F 9/11
I don't want to go on and on about this movie. Seeing it was enough of a waste of my time. Just to say: rarely have i been so disappointed. Illogically (Moore's not known to be bright) i expected well thought out, substantiated criticisms, many of which i would agree with. Instead i saw trite, silly, liberal platitudes. I'm not sure if he could have been more insulting to saudi arabians, black america, soldiers, or his general audience. As the saying goes, i feel dumber for having seen it. Bush could have been slammed well, but maybe you need an IQ higher than his to do it.

Gmail
Just got gmail a week or so ago - a very interesting concept. I'm disappointed, however, that it doesn’t have a "save as draft" button. Otherwise it's great! And i like the little ads that are related to my emails. It's a bit strange to know that something is scanning my emails, but Carnivore already does that, doesn't it? I think that on the internet (and on cell phones, for that matter) we should all assume we're constantly under surveillance.

helmet laws
i have a short letter to the editor in my hometown paper, the newark advocate. it's a response to an article whining about how many people are killed in motorcycle accidents because they don't wear helmets. of course, the natural conclusion for some in the story was was: well, let's just mandate that everyone wear helmets.
